Description

This double band old mine cut engagement ring combines an elongated antique cushion lab-grown diamond with four compass-set talon claws. Two parallel polished bands give the ring a sculptural presence, balancing the soft cushion outline and vintage-inspired faceting with clean lines.

Handmade in London using recycled precious metals, this ring is available in 18ct yellow gold, 18ct rose gold or platinum. It is part of Faire & Fine's One of a Kind collection, with centre diamond options from 1ct to 3ct.

Make the design your own through our bespoke engagement ring service, or book a consultation in Hatton Garden with our independent family jewellers. Each ring is made to order, typically in 3–6 weeks, and comes with our lifetime manufacturer's warranty against manufacturing defects.

About this old mine cut / antique cushion ring

Are old mine cut and antique cushion the same thing?

Old mine cut is often described as antique cushion because of its cushion outline and antique-style faceting. This ring uses a newly grown lab diamond cut in that style; the vintage character comes from the cut and design.

What makes this double band compass design different?

The ring combines two parallel polished bands with compass claws at the north, south, east and west points of an elongated old mine cut diamond. The other double band design has a softly squared antique cushion held by corner claws.

Which diamond sizes and qualities can I choose?

Choose a 1ct, 1.5ct, 2ct, 2.5ct or 3ct lab-grown centre diamond. Good: F colour, VS1 clarity; Better: E colour, VS1 clarity; Best: D colour, VVS clarity. Carat weight refers to the centre diamond. Contact us for the measurements and grading details of your proposed diamond.

What does the price include?

The setting is £2,500, excluding the centre diamond. With a 1ct F VS1 lab-grown centre diamond, the complete ring is £3,500. Selecting a centre stone size and quality displays the combined price of the setting and centre diamond. Prices for every listed size and quality are in The Finer Details.

FAQ's

Is a lab grown diamond actually a real diamond?

Yes! A lab grown diamond is a real diamond, identical in sparkle, hardness, and quality to mined stones. Every lab grown diamond engagement ring we handcraft in London offers the same brilliance and durability as their mined counterparts.

Can Engagement Rings be Lab Grown

Absolutely, our London jewellers specialise in creating bespoke engagement rings with ethically sourced lab grown diamonds, combining timeless design with modern sustainability.

Do lab diamonds last forever?

Yes, a lab grown diamond is just as durable as a mined diamond. Your lab grown diamond engagement ring will last a lifetime, making it a perfect symbol of love.

What is the 3 month rule for ring?

The “three month rule” is a traditional guideline suggesting that someone should spend the equivalent of three months’ salary on an engagement ring. Today, many couples choose a budget that reflects their values and lifestyle instead. Selecting a lab grown diamond engagement ring is a popular modern choice, offering exceptional beauty and value without following outdated rules.
